Chappie is another movie by Neill Blomkamp. He definitely has a distinct style to his movies. Apparently this style is not for everyone.

I have no idea why Chappie has so many bad reviews. Even from Critics. The thing of it is that again Neill Blomkamp has a style and I guess you have to be into that style. I’m not even going to “Read more” cut this movie because I loved it. The world is run by police robots. One of the engineers creates an AI to allow the robot to think and feel and learn like a real human. When Robot 22 is set to be destroyed, he gets taken by the engineer to test out the AI but local criminals have a different idea. Chappie, as he is named, is basically like a child when his new AI kicked in and he soaked up info like a sponge. He was confused between the engineer trying to teach him good and the criminals trying to teach him bad. Like a child, he gets sucked into some bad stuff and another engineer, jealous of this new AI, sets out to destroy Chappie. There’s some cool stuff with transferring consciousness between bodies at the end and a really neat concept. Chappie was adorable and I’d like to be his friend. It’s a great movie and I’m sorry I took so long to watch it! But more so – I’m sorry for all the idiots who just didn’t get it.
